The attorney general is to be given the power to impose tougher sentences in labour trafficking cases, immigration minister Damian Green will announce on Friday.The move is part of a package of measures designed to show that the government is as serious about tackling forced-labour trafficking as they are about the sex-trafficking trade.But ministers have ruled out once and for all demands from campaign groups, including one from an Equality and Human Rights Commission investigation chaired by Baroness Kennedy QC, for a human trafficking bill that would create a specific criminal offence.
